The Australian Manufacturers Champions puts together a wide variety of production cars on the race track, with competition coming from marques such as BMW, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda, Honda, Holden, Ford, Alfa Romeo, Lotus, Nissan and more. The championship takes in circuits throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland including Eastern Creek, Sandown Park, Wakefield Park and Morgan Park Raceway. The Championship forms a major part of the Shannons Nationals series.
GWS Personnel began their relationship with Allan’s True Blue Motorsport at the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2008 in the capacity as a sponsor. The race unfortunately ended in spectacular fashion when the team’s Mazda 3 flipped out late in the race with Len Cave behind the wheel (see left). The team bounced back in fine style in 2009, with the car of O’Donnell/Shephard and Christian D’Agostin winning the class, leading home a one-two form finish for the team.
In 2009, Allan took on the Nurburgring 24 hour race for the fourth time in his career. He raceed with a BMW M3 Team, with the GWS Personnel sponsorsed crew finishing third in class, and 56th outright from over 175 starters. Peter did the driver training day, and assisted the team with race strategy and calculations.
2010 provided more success for the crew, with the biggest change being the acquisition of the former Bathurst 12 Hour winning BMW 335i. With Peter sharing driving duties with motorsport legend John Bowe, the crew finished an impressive fourth outright on debut at the Australian Six Hour.
The GWS Personnel Motorsport team of race cars are maintained by On Track Motorsport, with Garry Mennell and his team carrying out all preparation and track-side servicing to the race cars.
GWS Personnel Motorsport would like to thank The Shire Conveyancer, Spinifex Australia, Rogue Lager and Briffa Smash Repairs for their continued support in the Australian Manufacturers Championship and Bathurst 12 Hour campaigns.
